Superior Planks of Madeline, Wisconsin Joins Wisconsinmade.com
Wisconsinmade.com, an e-commerce gourmet food and gift store, is excited to welcome Superior Planks, of the Eco Wood Company in Madeline, Wisconsin, into its growing family of Wisconsin artisans.
Madison, WI, August 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- "Superior Plank's dedication to quality and environmental responsibility so impressed us that we were eager to offer their flavorful grilling planks on Wisconsinmade.com," said Linda Remeschatis, owner of Wisconsinmade.com. Wisconsinmade.com carefully selects only the finest products made in Wisconsin and offers them for sale on the Internet. Remeschatis added, "Wisconsinmade.com's gourmet food selection attracts people who enjoy the exceptional quality of artisan-produced foods. With Superior Planks, we give customers a gourmet way to cook these foods as well."
About Superior Planks: Superior Planks was founded by Dan and Deena Schuppe who set their goal to create the most environmentally-friendly company possible. The cedar, maple, and oak grilling planks are made from the salvaged wood and culled trees grown on the Schuppe's Madeline Island property. Extreme care is taken to preserve the forest by selecting only the trees necessary to thin the woods and encourage forest regeneration. Two Belgian Shire horses pull the timber from the woods to the Schuppe's mill. The hand-hewned planks are bound in a maize-biodegradable shrink-wrap that decomposes within 8 months. All machinery runs on bio-diesel. The paper packaging is 100% recycled. Even the soy-based ink used is almost completely biodegradable. But beyond being green, these grilling planks make food taste naturally delicious. To use, first soak the planks, then place the food directly on them, no oils needed for lubrication, and put them in the oven or on the grill. The evaporating water rises as smoke from the planks and imparts a subtle but distinct flavor to meats and vegetables. With these planks, large, stand-alone smokers are no longer needed to create gourmet-smoked food.
