IJIS Institute Partners with American Probation and Parole Association
Ashburn, VA, September 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security, welcomes the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) as its Alliance Partner.
The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) is an international association composed of members from the United States, Canada, and other countries actively involved with probation, parole, and community-based corrections, in both adult and juvenile sectors. All levels of government including local, state/provincial, and federal representing executive and judicial agencies are counted among its constituents. By taking the initiative, APPA has grown to become the voice for thousands of probation and parole practitioners including line staff, supervisors, and administrators. Educators, volunteers, and concerned citizens with an interest in criminal and juvenile justice are also among APPA's members. The association represents a strong, unified voice for the field of community corrections.
The IJIS Institute relies heavily on partnerships with key practitioner organizations, national associations, other nonprofit organizations, and universities in its effort to harness the expertise of industry in working toward improved information sharing between organizations involved in justice, public safety, and homeland security. The members of the IJIS Institute’s Alliance Partner program are organizations that share the belief that information sharing is a national priority and the conviction to work together in partnerships to address this national need.
Paul Wormeli, executive director of the IJIS Institute, stated, “The IJIS Institute has been diligently working on information sharing projects in the corrections arena for many months, and this new alliance with APPA, building on our existing strong relationship, will help us all further the cause of corrections information sharing.”
Carl Wicklund, executive director of APPA, further expounds, “Our constituency desperately needs to catch-up with the rest of the justice system in its ability to share information. An alliance with the IJIS Institute will further our quest to help our member agencies develop information sharing systems.”
