Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe to Open in Midtown
The quick-service yet upscale restaurant is the young Columbia, Missouri-based franchise's fourth location and its first move into a major market
St. Louis, MO, September 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe is officially coming to St. Louis. Construction is already underway at 3722 Laclede Avenue, in the Midtown area next to St. Louis University. The doors are slated to open in early September of this year. Students at the University of Missouri and Missouri State may already be familiar with the quick-service style restaurant, which offers toasted sandwiches, thin-crust pizzas, freshly prepared salads, and "really good soups," all in an atypically-upscale environment. Pickleman's also offers late-night hours, fast delivery, and catering. The St. Louis location will be Pickleman's second franchise cafe, and the company's fourth overall.
The franchisees are Brad Merten and Brandon Holzhueter, both 25 years old and natives of St. Louis. The two have been friends since attending Parkway West Middle School together, and are pursuing a dream of starting their own business. Holzhueter is a CPA and Merten is a former General Manager of one of the Columbia cafes. They are funding the business with their own money and a loan they secured from Eagle Bank and Trust. The planning process began over a year ago.
"We have been working extremely hard and are exited to be coming to the SLU area," said Merten. "We feel Pickleman's is the perfect fit here because of the quality and type of food we have, and we are open as late as 3:30 a.m. which should appeal to college students. We also offer fast delivery, so we will be able to deliver to businesses and residences in the Central West End and other surrounding areas. We know the risks involved in opening a new restaurant, especially in a down economy, but we really believe once the word gets out people are going to love it."
The group plans to send out more information closer to the opening date, including details on a Grand Opening event.
