Rare Audemars Piguet "Royal Oak Indianapolis F1 Grand Prix" Watch Offered at Antiquorum September Auction
A rare Audemars Piguet “Royal Oak Indianapolis F1 Grand Prix” watch will be offered at Antiquorum's September 15th auction in New York City.
New York, NY, September 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Collectors can look forward to a fantastic fall sale of Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces at Antiquorum Auctioneers (www.antiquorum.com), the world’s premier watch auctioneer, on September 15th in New York City.
Among the exceptional watches being offered is an Audemars Piguet “Royal Oak Indianapolis F1 Grand Prix” prototype. It is a rare, tonneau-shaped, large, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold wristwatch featuring a round- button chronograph, registers, and date.
This outstanding watch was made as one of only three pieces in 2000 as part of a joint project between Audemars Piguet and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Owners. Together, they designed these extraordinary Royal Oak wristwatches to give to the winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Indianapolis Motor Speedway Races. The prototypes were made featuring the famous logo on the dial. Michael Schumacher won the race that year, but was unable to accept the timepiece as he was already under contract with another prominent Swiss watch manufacturer. The collaboration was never completed and therefore this is a unique opportunity to acquire this rare Royal Oak.
