Gogobeans Launches New Consumer Website
Gogobeans has launched its new consumer website providing digital locker and social networking features that allow subscribers to keep, find and share their digital life. Gogobeans' unique tools make controlling your online environment easy with access from any device, anywhere.
Palo Alto, CA, September 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Gogobeans has launched its consumer website enabling consumers to take control of their digital life with tools to keep, find and share any data.
With a twist on sharing, Gogobeans allows you to “bounce a bean,” their take on sharing your digital stuff with your friends. Unlike typical sharing, Gogobeans wraps security around each data item and then the user grants permission to view that file, or in their case, that bean.
Founder, Tony De Ruvo explains, “The problem with most social networking sites is that once you load your stuff onto the site, all your friends can access it. The reality is that most are not really friends but the by-product of a land grab where people almost compete to see how many friends they have. What we find is that in reality, most people want to be selective in who they share with.”
“What we do is turn each data item into a bean which is in effect the storage address for that data item. We wrap security around that bean and then you can allow people to view that item by granting them access to that storage location. Our security makes everything private by default until you decide who can see what. Sure you want to see what others are doing or saying and share your thoughts but not necessarily all your photos, files or other digital items.”
Gogobeans is tapping into a time that sees our digital life expanding daily using multiple devices, storage locations and websites.
“It is getting to a stage where your online world resembles the shoebox of years ago. There are files, photos, work stuff, web bookmarks, address books, emails… the list goes on. All spread across laptops, mobile phones, tablets, USB memory sticks and even work computers. What we do is provide a library for all your digital stuff with access from a computer, mobile phone or any connected device so your life is at your fingertips when you need it. And when you bounce a bean to someone, you are simply sending them the address. So if I send you a one hour video or a one page word document, it is the same because I am sending you a bean, not the file. So you can see how that makes accessing from any device simple and inexpensive,” Mr De Ruvo added.
Gogobeans was the brainchild of Tony De Ruvo who with colleagues developed the beta platform before forming his team to bring it to market. The company has been gaining some credence in the cloud computing space this year having won the SPIFFY for best mobile opportunity at the 2010 Telecom Council awards in Silicon Valley. Funded from private investors, Gogobeans is innovative in its execution and has a roadmap with new features being added to make the user experience richer and easier.
Like others, Gogobeans is also opening up its platform to developers who want to use Gogobeans to deploy applications, games or any content. Their beans technology makes it easy for developers to control content enabling free and premium paid products.
