Bishop of Seventh Announces Spring 2011 Collaboration with Artist Michael Chearney

Bottoms Brand Bishop of Seventh Will Create Limited Edition Styles Inspired by Los Angeles’ Culture & Arts Movement

Los Angeles, CA, September 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Bishop of Seventh announces their collaboration with artist Michael Chearney for spring 2011. Inspired by the cultural shift in Los Angeles’ art community, Chearney brings his unique brand of action painting to Bishop of Seventh’s clean, tailored denim. The collection includes denim for men & women hand-painted by Chearney, bringing together Bishop of Seventh’s tailoring and Chearney’s feng shui-inspired work for their spring 2011 wearable art series.

After encountering Chearney working on a piece for his series “No Such Work As Reality,” Bishop of Seventh Founder Chachi Prasad felt an emotional connection to the work. As Prasad explains of their encounter, “There was an instant connection and mutual respect for each other’s creative works. I asked to paint with Chearney and a relationship blossomed. The series of painted denim, to me, is a commentary on the meaning of art and clothing; both fine art and fashion being a reflection of one’s complete personal style,” according to Prasad. The Bishop of Seventh & Chearney painted denim soon evolved bringing together their work on a canvas made of denim for the unique Bishop of Seventh customer.

Michael Chearney, a noted Los Angeles-based artist has been creating his abstract pieces for most of his life. For his collaboration with Bishop of Seventh, Chearney describes the style he utilizes as “action feng shui” painting to achieve the vibrant work that adorns each pair of Bishop of Seventh denim. As Chearney describes, “my work for Bishop of Seventh is a balance of energy using deliberate technique to channel emotions.” The collaboration between Bishop of Seventh and Michael Chearney is an exciting endeavor for both as they look to blur the “lines between fashion and art” with their painted denim.
