Before author Donald Daily spent more than 30 years with the Indianapolis Public School System, he joined the Navy Reserve in 1942, becoming an ensign two years later. The Illinois native remained in the active reserves until his retirement in 1968. He served in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. He continues to write.
