Polly Mackey & The Pleasure Principle Release Their New Single 'Higher' via The Playground Records on 7th November 2010
After much media attention and many 2010 festival appearances plus the band being hand-picked from 2,000 acts to officially open SXSW 2010, Polly Mackey & The Pleasure Principle release their debut commercially-released single ‘Higher’ via The Playground Records on 7th November 2010.
London, United Kingdom, September 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- After extensive 2010 festival appearances and being hand picked for both HMV’s inaugural Next Big Thing Festival and - from 2,000 acts - to officially open SXSW 2010, Polly Mackey & The Pleasure Principle release their debut commercially-released single ‘Higher’ via The Playground Records.
To say the least, new single ‘Higher’ is the amalgamation of all the hard work, live shows, song writing, blood, sweat and tears of the past two years, bringing together Polly’s vast experiences since her early acoustic shows as a promising yet rough edged 17-year-old singer songwriter. Produced by Robert Harder (Brian Eno, David Byrne, Babyshambles), ‘Higher’ combines Polly’s reflective lyrical talent, thumping rhythms and an anthemic driving chorus that won’t be leaving you any time soon.
Following 18 months of UK touring as a solo artist, Polly Mackey formed her band, Polly Mackey & The Pleasure Principle, in late 2008. Debut performances at SXSW 2009 in Austin, Texas earned them rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. Their self-released ‘fan only’ single, ‘Seriously’ was immediately picked up by college radio in the USA, and LP33TV of California soon began promoting the song heavily. Within weeks Polly and the band were voted Band of the Month by Hearsay, America’s College Music Magazine, and were chosen for the “Best Kept Secret” feature by Blurt Magazine in the USA – the first non-US band to be chosen for this feature.
Back in the UK, a live session for BBC Radio 1 was followed by performances at Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape, Wakestock and the main stage at Heineken FIB Benicassim music festival alongside The Killers & Oasis. Their follow up ‘fan only’ E.P. (‘Silent Film’) received extensive national & regional radio play with track ‘The Wall’ recently being featured on an episode of BBC Radio 1 Switch (online)/BBC 2 Television's teen drama series The Cut alongside top artists such as Florence & The Machine, Thom Yorke, Mumford & Sons, The Pixies and more.
With all of these early accomplishments behind them, 2010/2011 can be clearly seen as a breakthrough period for Polly Mackey & The Pleasure Principle. ‘Higher’ is released on the 7th November 2010 on The Playground Records.
