Austin, TX, September 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Shermco Charities, an organization funded by employees of Shermco Industries, recently presented a check for $3,500 to the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation at the company’s newly constructed 10,000-square-foot facility in Cedar Park, Texas.
“The Texas VFW Foundation is an invaluable resource for our military veterans and current military men and women serving around the world,” said Ron Widup, executive vice president of Shermco.
The Texas VFW Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to “support non-political programs that secure, manage and distribute resources to improve the lives of veterans, military service personnel, their families and communities.”
Donated funds were raised through Shermco Charities’ annual golf tournament, which featured players from various areas of the electrical power distribution industry. Funds will go towards the Texas VFW Foundation’s charitable efforts, including a program that provides phone cards to military personnel abroad so they can easily stay in touch with their families.
“The Texas VFW Foundation is committed to ensuring that the needs of our active duty troops, their families and all veterans are met. It is only through donations such as this from Shermco that we are able to fulfill our mission,” said Roy Grona, executive director of the Texas VFW Foundation. “We are very appreciative of Shermco's efforts to not only raise funds for our foundation but to also highlight the recurring needs of our most precious asset, those that now serve and those that have served our country.”
