Shermco Gets Dallas County Records Building Back Online

Dallas, TX, September 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- After a severed water main flooded the basement of the Dallas County Records Building, shutting down power and sending several critical county-wide systems offline, Shermco Industries, based in Irving, Texas, was tasked with restoring the building’s electrical system.

In order to get the records building back online quickly and cost-effectively, a Shermco team assessed flood damages to the building’s electrical equipment to determine which parts to repair and which to replace.

“Usually in a situation like this, much of the system can be salvaged and repaired without losing any reliability or performance,” said Ron Widup, executive vice president of Shermco. “Completely replacing equipment is usually the most expensive and time-consuming way to get these systems back online, so it’s important to bring in knowledgeable professionals that can determine which parts of the system can be recovered and restored – and which cannot.”

Shermco’s electrical services and expertise related to flood recovery have been utilized in several cities and situations across the United States.

“We have a great deal of experience getting electrical systems back online after a flood event,” said Widup. “We have worked in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after flooding devastated that region, the Texas Gulf Coast after Hurricane Ike and more recently we sent a team to Clarksville, Tenn., after the Cumberland River overflowed its banks.”

Over the years, Shermco has evolved into a first responder in electrical disaster relief efforts, restoring power to major facilities to help expedite disaster recovery.
