Danforth Plant Science Center 12th Annual Fall Symposium
Speakers from across the Nation to discuss Advances in Structural Biology
St. Louis, MO, September 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center will be hosting its 12th annual Fall Symposium from Wednesday, September 29th – Friday, October 1st, 2010. This year’s symposium includes a wide range of topics with a focus on using high-resolution electron microscopy 3D image reconstruction and X-ray crystallography to elucidate important biological problems.
“We are honored to host the symposium each year to bring together a diverse group of scientists that present state of the art talks on a wide range of topics,” said Thomas Smith, Symposium Organizer and Principal Investigator at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. “This is another example of how the Center works to enhance the science in the St. Louis region.”
The 12th annual Fall Symposium will feature lectures by influential individuals from institutions from all across the United States. While the theme of the talks are mainly focused on the structure or organization of important biological assemblies, they will all show how this information can be applied to better understand complex biological processes. Some of the general topics include, virus structures, drug discovery, plant hormone receptors, photosynthetic complexes, engineering of plant metabolic pathways, membrane proteins, circadian rhythms, and DNA repair.
Registration will remain open until September 24th, 2010. Registration is limited to the first 250 people due to space constraints. The registration fee includes access to all sessions, social events, breaks and meals as indicated in the program.
The registration fee for post-doctoral fellows, technicians or equivalent is reduced. Graduate students are welcome to participate for free. For a list of the esteemed speakers and topics please visit http://www.danforthcenter.org/fallsymposium2010/program.htm.
