New Murder Mystery Set Against Backdrop of "War on Terror" and U.S. Foreign Policy
Ghosts of Empire by Jeff Irvin wrestles with age-old question of war’s unintended consequences.
Toledo, OH, September 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In the debut novel Ghosts of Empire James Buchanan, Bill Anderson, and Martha Cormack are pulled into a web of intrigue created by the “war on terror” in Afghanistan and the U.S. occupation of Japan.
As the struggle against terrorism rages in central Asia, a U.S. Airman paralyzes a young Okinawan girl. A few months later a U.S. Marine is brutally murdered on Okinawa.
The Pentagon is forced to call in retired CID agent James Buchanan to solve the case, preferably before delicate negotiations begin between the U.S. and Japan.
As Buchanan races against time to uncover the mystery surrounding the Marine’s death he learns a disturbing truth, a truth that further threatens the negotiations and forces Buchanan to choose between justice or loyalty to his country.
Author Jeff Irvin wrote Ghosts of Empire to instruct as well as entertain. He hopes the reader will begin to understand the problematic issues that plague a unilateral foreign policy—especially in a world where unilateralism has become an unviable strategy for national defense.
Dr. Irvin believes that Ghosts of Empire is a good starting point for discussions about U.S. foreign policy, the role of the United States in the world, and how these issues relate to U.S. democracy.
Ghosts of Empire is presently available for sale through Amazon.
