IOSH Managing Safely Course Success for Lavendon
Lutterworth, United Kingdom, September 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Lavendon Access Services is strengthening its health and safety culture further still by requiring all managers to take the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely course.
Delivered in-house by its own training and education department, the Lavendon Academy, the IOSH Managing Safely course is designed to teach managers how to ensure best practice in health and safety and to ensure it is followed by their teams.
The first six delegates on the course all passed with a 100% record. One of the successful candidates was Marc Johnson, Regional Director for Lavendon Access Services. He said: “Being accredited to deliver the IOSH course in-house is a testament to our training department which is constantly and pro-actively expanding its portfolio of courses.
“This latest achievement gives us a great opportunity to drive accident prevention and safety standards even higher amongst our staff and customers. We are determined to take a leadership role in continuously raising these standards in our own industry. Delivering innovative courses shows that we are striving to ensure our workplaces are as safe as possible.”
He said it was no accident that the IOSH course’s key elements are promoted by senior staff and appropriate Directors, to all staff, through Lavendon Access Service’s ‘Safety Start With You’ campaign.
These include: assessing risks, controlling risks, identifying hazards, understanding responsibilities, investigating accidents and incidents, measuring performance and protecting the work environment.
After a successful audit by IOSH, Mark Robinson, Training Manager for the Lavendon Academy, said they are now able to offer the course to external candidates.
He said: “The success of the Lavendon candidates demonstrates the levels of professionalism and experience across the company. To have a 100% pass rate clearly reflects the company’s serious approach to health and safety.
“The Academy has already run its second IOSH Managing Safely course and we have another course booked in for October. By delivering the course externally we can pass on our training team’s expertise and confirm Lavendon Access Services as the standard setter to the powered access industry.”
Lavendon Access Services has had a successful 2010 for safety awards, including the RoSPA Gold accreditation and winning the Effective Health and Safety Management award at the HAE Hire Awards of Excellence 2010.
