Care2Learn Adds Easy-to-Use Competency Assessment Tool to Its Maverick LMS
New competency assessment tool in Care2Learn learning management system lets Enterprise clients assess, measure and record staff competencies from a central location
Tampa, FL, September 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Care2Learn, Inc., the leader in online continuing education and training for post-acute healthcare providers, has created a customizable Competency Assessment tool for administrators who want to be able to assess the skills of clinicians quickly and efficiently online.
The new feature lets clients choose from among roughly 50 stock competencies that cover basic skills (such as taking a patient’s pulse or measuring respiration), and/or Care2Learn can develop proprietary competencies based on the client’s individual needs. Evaluators can then perform a staff competency evaluation at the bedside or in the field using an iPad, laptop, or netbook, by observing the clinician and using the competency’s checklist to check off procedural items as they occur (or not).
“Usually, performing staff competencies means entering information once on paper for the evaluator, and then re-entering it electronically,” says Ryan Sparks, Care2Learn Vice President of Content and General Manager. “But using the Competency Assessment tool, the double workload is eliminated – and in addition, automated tracking and reporting are enabled so administrators have easy, up-to-date access to staff competency information and can generate reports with just a few clicks of the mouse.”
Clients can cherry-pick the competencies that meet their requirements and can track each one specifically at any time. In addition, the individuals performing the procedure can access printable handouts that explain the rationale behind the steps within each competency.
The online Competency Assessment simplifies the evaluation process for both administrators and staff, and prevents the wasted time expended with paper data entry and manual tracking. Because document management is becoming increasingly critical in today’s environment of unprecedented healthcare revisions and reforms, Care2Learn developed its Competency Assessment functionality to help healthcare professionals and facilities stay ahead of the curve.
