RTI Data Distribution Service Supports Windows Embedded CE and Windows Mobile
High-Performance Messaging and Software Integration Solution Now Available for Mobile and Embedded Devices
Santa Clara, CA, January 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Real-Time Innovations (RTI), The Real-Time Middleware Company, today announced that it has been selected by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) to join the Windows Embedded Partner Program. As a new Windows Embedded Partner, RTI extends its high-performance messaging and software integration solution, RTI Data Distribution Service, to provide support for Windows Embedded CE and Windows Mobile.
"Microsoft's Windows Embedded operating systems help advance the development of next-generation software on embedded devices, and RTI’s Data Distribution Service allows developers to get products to market faster," said Jane Gilson, director of the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft Corporation. "We congratulate RTI for becoming a member of the Windows Embedded Partner Program and look forward to working closely with RTI to help their customers create innovative products quickly.”
RTI Data Distribution Service provides Windows Embedded CE and Windows Mobile application developers with messaging performance 10 to 25 times faster than most other middleware technologies, including Java Message Service (JMS) and web services. In addition to low latency and high throughput, RTI Data Distribution minimizes processor and memory overhead, making it ideal for resource-constrained mobile and embedded systems. With a publish-subscribe, true peer-to-peer architecture, RTI Data Distribution Service is well suited to broad distribution of real-time data. A demo showcasing key features of RTI Data Distribution Service is available for download at www.rti.com.
“We are very pleased to join the Windows Embedded Partner Program,” said David Barnett, vice president of Product Management for RTI. “By providing support for Windows Embedded CE and Windows Mobile, we are enabling our joint customers to develop and deploy high-performance distributed real-time applications that seamlessly interoperate and share data from the edge to the Enterprise.”
RTI Data Distribution Service complies with the Object Management Group (OMG) Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems (DDS) standard. RTI is the leader in defining and implementing standards that enable real-time data distribution.
Data-centric design is emerging as a key tenet for building advanced, data-critical distributed embedded and Enterprise systems. Data-centric design is fundamental to systems that exhibit some or all of the following five characteristics:
- Participants are distributed.
- Interactions between participants are data-centric and not object-centric, and often they can be viewed as “dataflows” that may carry information about identifiable data-objects.
- Data is critical because of large volumes, predictable delivery requirements and/or the dynamic nature of the entities.
- Computation is time-sensitive and may be critically dependent on the predictable delivery of data.
- Storage is local. Examples of data-centric systems are found in traffic control, command-and-control, networking equipment, industrial automation, robotics, simulation, medical, supply chain, and financial processing applications.
Windows Embedded operating systems provide the technology, tools and resources to help drive the advancement of devices—including personal digital assistants (PDAs), ATMs and retail systems—as complete, end-to-end business systems. The Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Program is a strategic worldwide program focused on providing partnering and marketing opportunities to companies delivering products, services or solutions based on Microsoft Windows Embedded platforms. More information about the Windows Embedded Partner Program is available online at http://www.mswep.com.
