Palm Beach Pops and Music Man Serenade IDEAL School Students

Elementary students from 2nd to 5th grade get lessons in science and music from local orchestra.

Royal Palm Beach, FL, September 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Palm Beach Pops Orchestra kicked off their four week long Music & You program today at the IDEAL School. Students in grades 2 through 5 were immediately captivated by the Orchestra's brass rendition of “The Simpsons” theme song. Student’s also enjoyed hearing The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” and several Gershwin tunes.

The Music Man, Bob Lappin, intertwined science and music explaining to students that tones sent out by Orchestra members' brass instruments is created by wave particles that enter the ear allowing us to hear the music. The students were captivated and entertained by the different sounds of the tuba, bass trumpet, french horn and piccolo trumpet which were just some of the instruments played today.

The Pops’ Production Coordinator, Sara Hebert said, “We’re excited to bring the Music & You program to the IDEAL School this year. In the past few years we’ve been able to expand the program to include private schools and we’re glad IDEAL is part of that expansion.”

The Music Man returns next Wednesday. At that time he'll be introducing students to the woodwind family of instruments.
