Norwood, MA, September 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc. (ATS) introduces STAR™ LED Heat Sink Extrusion Profiles allowing engineers to create custom LED cooling solutions. These aluminum heat sink extrusion profiles are part of ATS’ new STAR™ heat sink product line, designed for high-performance convection cooling of high heat flux LED lights.
High-power LED applications, including arrays of LEDs, require thermal management like other semiconductor devices. High temperatures not only degrade an LED’s lifetime, but also cause lower light or non-uniform output effects that can significantly affect the application. With today’s increasing power densities, higher demand for light output, and limited space, more advanced cooling solutions are needed. ATS STAR™ heat sinks can reduce LED temperatures by more than 50%. The heat sink design features a low profile, spread fin array that maximizes surface area for more effective convection (air) cooling. Using this design platform, engineers can create custom LED heat sink solutions from lightweight, extruded aluminum, which minimizes thermal resistance, reduces weight, and keeps costs low.
