Montez to Monitor International Regulatory Environment, Uphold Company Commitment to Quality.
San Diego, CA, September 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Further lending itself to the company’s growth, Satori World Medical hires Kristen Montez, Esq., as director of legal and regulatory services.
Montez, who brings nearly a decade of experience in the legal, human resources and health care industries, will fill the function of managing all legal exposures, risks and contracts, safeguarding corporate assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining current knowledge on all relevant federal, state and regulatory issues. Further, Montez will ensure all international provider services are performed on contractual terms.
“Due to the significant growth in the company’s global network, client contracts and the current health care environment, it is important that we be responsive and bring legal counsel in house,” said Steven Lash, president and CEO, Satori World Medical.
Montez formerly worked for a San Diego-based medical malpractice defense firm, where she managed medical malpractice, insurance and civil litigation cases. She also worked for the legal research and opinion unit of the California Department of Managed Health Care. In 2008, Montez wrote “A Permanent Vacation: Evaluating Medical Tourism’s Place in the United States Health Care System,” which was published in “The Health Lawyer,” trade journal, a nationwide circulation published by the American Bar Association.
“Medical travel is beginning to play an important role in the way our country thinks about health care,” said Montez. “Satori is at the forefront of the medical travel industry setting benchmarks for excellence in the service and care it provides to its patients. I am excited to be joining an organization that is truly focused on quality.”
Montez holds a bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology with a minor in economics from Lafayette College. She obtained her law degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles where she was honored with the dean’s scholar full academic scholarship for one year and was the managing editor for the Loyola International and Comparative Law Review.
Montez is currently a member of the public policy committee for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, San Diego affiliate. Prior to attending law school, Montez was an employment counselor for the New Jersey Department of Labor where she gained knowledge of human resources and health care access issues.
Satori World Medical provides access to its global network of board-certified doctors and worldwide centers of excellence through a high-quality integrated program, which is easily added to any health plan, reducing the costs of surgical procedures by an average of 40-80 percent when compared to the same procedures performed in a U.S. hospital.
