Shoe Metro Celebrates the One-Year Anniversary of Its Retail Store
Shoe Metro's retail store is celebrating its first year in business by offering customers a sale and great prizes. Shoe Metro has reached out to the community in a number of ways in the past year and will continue to do so in the future.
San Diego, CA, September 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Online retailer, Shoe Metro, will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of the opening of its first brick-and-mortar retail store. Shoe Metro plans to commemorate the occasion by giving out a bevy of prizes through raffles and silent auctions at its store. In-store customers can also take advantage of an additional 20% discount off their purchase. The sale runs from October 1 through October 9.
"Our first year for our retail outlet has been a resounding success," says David Duong, President/CEO of Shoe Metro. "We wanted to give back to the customers who have made our success possible."
Shoe Metro has much reason to celebrate what has been an eventful year for its retail store. In the past year, the store has doubled its total inventory from 90,000 pairs of shoes to 180,000 pairs of shoes. The Shoe Metro store has also expanded its hours to better accommodate customers' schedules. The store has gone through a number of remodeling improvements to enhance the customer experience. With the increased inventory, the expansion of store hours, and the remodeling, Shoe Metro's store has seen a significant increase in sales. Monthly profits have jumped almost four fold from November 2009 to August 2010.
But Shoe Metro's retail store has given so much more than just financial growth. The opening of the retail store has helped Shoe Metro to establish a presence within the San Diego community. And the company has used its presence for the greater good.
Shoe Metro has contributed to charitable causes in a number of different ways over the past year. The most significant act of charity was its partnership with Soles 4 Souls, an organization that collects donated used shoes and distributes them to disaster victims around the world. After the Haiti Earthquake Crisis, Shoe Metro teamed with Soles 4 Souls to bring much needed footwear to those disaster victims. Shoe Metro served as a local donation collection center for Soles 4 Souls. Offering a store discount to customers who contributed to the cause, the Shoe Metro retail store was able to collect hundreds of pairs of shoe donations from schools, organizations, businesses, and individual customers in the area.
"That was a horrible tragedy. But we're glad we could do our part, coming together with the rest of the world, to help in their time of need," says Duong.
But Shoe Metro has also helped benefit the local community in several ways. This includes helping a local magnet school raise funds to revive its science program. This includes sponsorship of a fashion show to benefit Dress For Success, a non-profit that offers business attire to aspiring professionals to be able to enter the work force. And this also includes donating shoes to Father Joe's Villages to benefit the homeless and the poor. Moreover, Shoe Metro's employees frequently participate in charitable activities such as beach clean-up days and charity runs.
"We want to instill a sense of civic duty in our employees to help them improve as individuals," says Duong. "As they improve in this area, they will also become more productive employees as a consequence."
Shoe Metro's anniversary sale lasts from October 1 through October 9. It will be having a larger in-store sale event on October 2.
