Scrivener for Windows Announced
The Mac-only award winning content creation and management tool announces a Windows version to be released in early 2011.
Truro, United Kingdom, September 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Literature & Latte Ltd has announced the development of a Windows compatible version of its award-winning Mac OS X software dedicated to the structuring and composition of long texts such as novels, screenplays, theses and research documents.
Launched in 2007, until now Scrivener has been Mac-only, but following repeated calls from PC users for a Windows compatible version, after two years in development Scrivener for Windows will be on sale in early 2011.
A public beta will be released in late October 2010.
Scrivener is designed especially for working on the first drafts of long documents; unlike most word processors and page layout programs, Scrivener's toolset is dedicated to the creation of content rather than the appearance of a document.
Features such as split screen and the ability to import media documents (including web pages, images, sound, video and PDF files) allow writers to refer to research as they write.
Meanwhile, Scrivener's integrated corkboard and outliner allow users to plan ahead or restructure after the first draft is finished.
Once completed, drafts can be printed directly from Scrivener or exported to a variety of common word processor file formats for final formatting and submission.
Scrivener has been enthusiastically adopted by novelists, screenwriters, lawyers, and journalists alike, with bestselling novelist Michael Marshall Smith describing it as "the biggest software advance for writers since the word processor." Pricing:
Scrivener for Windows will cost $40 for the regular licence and $35 for the education licence.
Technical Requirements:
Scrivener for Windows will run on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Notes For Editors:
Literature & Latte is a shareware company whose sole product is Scrivener.
The program is fully flexible and is designed for use by anyone working on a long and difficult writing project that requires structure and research, or which becomes hard to keep track of in a regular word processor. Rather than tell you how to write, it just makes all the tools you have scattered around your desk available in one application.
Key features include:
- Edit Multiple Documents
Create limitless documents in the same project and edit them separately or merge them dynamically and edit them as a whole.
- Corkboard
Virtual index cards store a synopsis for every document you create. Storyboard and rearrange your project by moving them around on the corkboard.
- Outlining
A fully-featured outliner helps you take control of your work’s structure.
- Keywords
A powerful keywords system keeps track of characters, themes or ideas.
- Full Screen Editing
View your text in full screen for distraction-free composition.
- Export
Export your finished draft to your favourite word processor for final formatting, including support for footnotes, annotations and images.
