The prestigious award was granted to DataWorks for their exceptional work in the field of Information Technology in Lee County.

DataWorks was presented the Industry Appreciation Award for business leadership in the field of information technology.

Sponsored by the Horizon Council, Lee County’s economic advisory board, the event drew a record crowd of over 950 government, business, and community leaders to celebrate the significant contributions of the business community in Lee County.

Five local companies and one individual were recognized during the 2010 Industry Appreciation Week. Winners of the Business Leadership Awards were selected based on their exceptional level of leadership, innovation, investment, and community involvement in Southwest Florida. Winners were: Myers, Brettholz & Company, PA, General Business; DataWorks, Inc., Information Technology; Storm Smart Industries, Inc., Manufacturing; Hilton Garden Inn Fort Myers, Tourism.

Also recognized at the award luncheon were Neogenomics Laboratories with the Business Expansion Award and Steven C. Shimp, P.E., retired president of Owen-Ames-Kimball Company, winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
