Keyport IHOP Donates Funds for the Blind During Blindness Awareness Month: Century-Old Local Charity to Receive Funds and Hold Free Eye Screenings at Restaurant
Keyport, NJ, October 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- October is Blindness Awareness Month, and to help support programs for the blind, Keyport IHOP will generously donate ten percent of sales every Tuesday in October to the New Jersey Blind Citizens Association (NJBCA), a charitable organization dedicated to unlocking opportunities for the blind and visually impaired. NJBCA representatives will also be on-site at the restaurant to share program information each Tuesday, with free eye screenings held courtesy of the Middletown Lions Club on the final Tuesday.
“New Jersey Blind Citizens Association has such a big impact on the lives of people who are blind or losing their vision,” says Cliff Moore, Owner of Keyport IHOP. “We are pleased to contribute funds to help keep their programs running, and to spread awareness about blindness, eye health, and the importance of regular screenings.” Added Mitzy Moore, “We are proud to have partnered for this great cause.”
“We were founded in 1910, making this our 100th year of operation,” says Marisa Medina, NJBCA Director of Development. “Our partners at Keyport IHOP have given us the perfect birthday gift! We are thrilled to have their financial support and help sharing our story, and we hope that everyone in the area will take advantage of the eye screenings, courtesy of the Middletown Lions Club.”
Eye screenings are available to all free of charge, and there is no purchase necessary at Keyport IHOP to receive a screening. Those interested should call NJBCA at 732-291-0878 to confirm screening times.
NJBCA will host an array of events in October for Blindness Awareness Month, including an Open House on Saturday, October 9th at its campus, Camp Happiness, at 18 Burlington Avenue in Leonardo.
