American Conference Institute Presents Its Employment Discrimination Litigation Forum

Employment Discrimination Litigation: Goldman Sachs named in gender bias claim. Three former female employees at Goldman Sachs Group sued the investment bank on, contending that the firm discriminates systematically against women.

New York, NY, October 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The complaint, filed in United States District Court in Manhattan, claims intentional pay disparity between male and female employees, and promotes males at a higher rate. The claim asserts a persistent pattern of bias resulting in women being underrepresented in the management positions.

“The number of women in management positions at Goldman dwindles as the level of management rises,” the complaint said, citing Goldman data that showed that women made up 29 percent of the firm’s vice presidents, 17 percent of its managing directors and 14 percent of its partners.

This claim is the latest of a steady flow of lawsuits filed over the last decade accusing firms of denying women the kind of pay packages and job opportunities granted to men. The well known case of Dukes v. Wal-Mart is another example of a gender bias suit in the field of employment discrimination (resulting in one of the largest class action claims in history).

The heightened concerns relating to gender/sex discrimination are going to be addressed at ACI's 2nd National Employment Discrimination Litigation Forum in San Francisco, CA (December 8-9, 2010) as part of a special session focusing on defending against pay and compensation discrimination suits and the latest sexual orientation and gender identity claims.

This conference will be a forum for the leaders in employment discrimination litigation (including a panel of 8 renowned jurists) to discuss the key issues for employers today.

Other topics include:

· countering the rise of age discrimination
· the rise of civil rights class actions
· disability and sexual harassment claims
· retaliation claims
· FMLA, ADA, and pregnancy claims and the “Bermuda Triangle crossover”
· Mediation and Arbitration
