In the story, the central character is a nun who realizes that to advance along her own spiritual pathway she has to abandon the idea of the deity and religion that she’s been indoctrinated into. In the process she becomes living proof that ordinary individuals can develop paranormal powers and as a result she falls foul of the Vatican, Muslim extremists and the British Anti-Terrorist Squad.
