Stock Displays Launch 'Carbon Neutral Blogs' Initiative
Yorkshire based manufacturing company Stock Displays are proud to announce the launch of a new initiative which it is hoped will help to make thousands of blogs and websites around the world carbon neutral.
Doncaster, United Kingdom, October 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The initiative forms part of Stock Displays corporate social responsibility plans, and rewards blogs and websites that add one of their 'Carbon Neutral Website' buttons to the site sidebar or footer.
Stock Displays came up with the idea after coming across research from Harvard University physicist Alexander Wissner-Gross, who calculated that blogs and websites contribute 0.02g of carbon per visit, based on a site attracting an average of 15,000 hits per month. This figure takes into account the power used by computer usage, server cooler systems and electricity hours. This works out at 3.5kg's of carbon per year for an average blog or website.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have estimated that over the course of their lives, a single tree will remove on average 10kg of carbon per year from the atmosphere. So Stock Displays decided that for each blog or website that added one of their buttons, they would make a donation to the National Forest Foundation in the United States for them to plant a tree.
