OboMnenie Hosts Business Competition– Social Entrepreneurship is Our Future!

OboMnenie, Russia’s largest and most comprehensive green/holistic sustainability portal recently held a business competition to foster social entrepreneurship.

Miami, FL, October 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- OboMnenie recently hosted a business competition which started May 15, 2010 and ended September 15, 2010 geared towards social entrepreneurs. While being well-established and developed in the West, social entrepreneurship is an emerging field with diverse and shifting interpretations in Russia. OboMnenie’s objective of the competition is to provide social entrepreneurs with an opportunity to promote their green products and services businesses. This contest was conducted not only to bring attention to the ones that exist to focuses on creating social capital and to further social and environmental goals, but also to the concept itself.

The participants were requested to write a 300-500 word description of their business, plans and aspirations and let everyone know about their good intentions, environmentally friendly products as well as motivations and reasons for their social entrepreneurship. One of the criteria that had to be applied in order to qualify to enter the contest was that businesses should be directed at solving social problems that are related to environmental issues.

The articles were published and featured on OboMnenie’s webportal creating extremely high visibility given OboMnenie being the largest green website in the BRIC, R, being Russian region. The participant who received the greatest number of comments on their story containing substantial content would win the contest. Prizes include 2 nights, including breakfast at the Novotel Moscow Center, a service package offered by *Pleasant Company* Public Relations and advertising space on OboMnenie for 3 months.

Andrew Krivenko and his business *hut*, a natural dairy producer is the winner of the *Social entrepreneurship – this is our future!* contest. Andrew’s idea emerged 1.5 years ago after he stopped consuming dairy products which he loved so much. The fact that there is a market gap of fresh and natural products stores in Moscow made Andrew want to contribute to the health of Russians by providing resources for a healthy diet. His mantra is, that based on the fair treatment of consumers, producers, employees, government and the environment, it is possible to efficiently supply consumers with natural products at affordable prices.
