Thomas S. Algeo, Pilot and Attorney, Announces the Release of His New Novel, The Gitmo Mission
Thomas S. Algeo, retired naval intelligence officer, former naval aviator, and attorney-at-law, has just released his new novel, The Gitmo Mission. The Gitmo Mission tells the story of what might have happened at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, shortly after the attacks of 9/11, through the eyes of Tom Anderson, a dedicated, if somewhat reluctant, lieutenant commander in the United States Navy Reserve.
Savannah, GA, October 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Gitmo Mission – Military Adventure/Mystery
It’s a good time for someone to take a fresh look at what happened, or more precisely, what might have happened, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, shortly after the attacks of 9/11. Thomas S. Algeo uses his new novel, The Gitmo Mission (ISBN 9781453635599, Trade paperback, 490 pp, 5 x 8, $18.99; Kindle edition, $7.99), to explore some theories about what the U.S. military might have been doing in the early days of anti-terrorism. Drawing upon his background as a naval intelligence officer, a naval aviator, and an attorney, Algeo has given us a compelling read.
In The Gitmo Mission, Tom Anderson joins a naval reserve intelligence unit to raise some extra cash for his struggling law practice. His previously uncomplicated life is turned upside down when he's ordered to investigate the death of a detainee in Guantanamo Bay. Things get worse when a young Marine's suicide leads to the discovery of a mysterious ship in Havana Bay, and Tom's small band of warriors find themselves trapped behind enemy lines.
What makes this book different is that it weaves a story about Gitmo from the inside out. It’s about military heroes who are just plain people, with all of the foibles and failings that define the human race, but with a sense of honor and commitment unique to the profession of warriors.
“It's a great read. I found myself staying up late reading it, looking forward to specific plot lines to see how the author proposed to untangle the knot. Descriptions of the personalities are done very well; navy life and discipline is apparently something the author knows well; the dialogue is lively (…).” - James L. Zackrison, CEO, Mater Navis, LLC. Doctoral Candidate and Naval Intelligence Professional
