The Illuminated Theater's ChatRoulette Show Goes Halloweenie: Special San Francisco Halloween Event on 10/30
The ChatRoulette Show, a monthly variety show and drinking game based in the San Francisco Bay Area features professional performers entertaining both a live audience and users of Chatroulette.com, the infamous web site where users randomly encounter other people with web cameras. A special San Francisco Halloween show features interactive activities; audience members who wear costumes can win prizes and appear on the show. A “Castro Edition” geared for the gay community is also in the works.
San Francisco, CA, October 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The ChatRoulette Show, a performance project of The Illuminated Theater that utilizes a live connection with chatroulette.com, introduces themed shows, with a special San Francisco Halloween event on October 30th, and a “Castro Edition,” geared for the gay community, in the works.
"Our audience has been growing, and people have been excited to come to a cutting-edge performance where anything can happen," states Jonathan Bender, Artistic Director of The Illuminated Theater and creator of The ChatRoulette Show. "What could better suit the unexpected nature of chatroulette.com than a Halloween show?" In line with the show’s interactive nature, audience members who dress up can win prizes and be invited to participate in the performance.
To recap, The ChatRoulette Show features professional performers (drag, burlesque, singers, comedy, and more) entertaining both a live audience and users of Chatroulette.com, the infamous web site where users randomly encounter other people with web cameras. Projected onto a large screen, the latter become part of the show. And, when nudity appears on chatroulette.com, the show becomes a drinking game.
Bender continues, “Because male nudity is fairly guaranteed to appear on the site, it became apparent that the show would do quite well with San Francisco’s gay community.” Illuminated is finalizing dates and locations, TBA.
The Halloween Show will appear in the show’s San Francisco venue, The Makeout Room, on Saturday, October 30th, and then return to Berkeley for a regular show at The Starry Plough on November 6th. Halloween performers include Delilah (burlesque), Kid Akimbo (singer), TwinkleToes McGee (dance/performance art), and Wegent and Page (comedy). Admission in San Francisco is 21 and over.
About the company: The Illuminated Theater strives to make theater and live performance events dynamic and exciting, drawing upon novel formats, venues, and styles. And, by creating short, YouTube versions of performances that stand on their own, the work reaches a much larger audience (to view videos, visit http://www.youtube.com/user/illuminatedtheater).
