Construction Hat Trick at Derby College
Derby, United Kingdom, October 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Derby College’s Construction Academy has achieved a sporting hat trick of work in Loughborough.
Having previously completed construction projects at the Loughborough Football Club and Loughborough Carillon Old Boys Cricket Club, construction students and staff have now worked with Loughborough Rugby Club to help refurbish its Derby Road headquarters so that it can host corporate and sponsorship events.
Derby College Project Supervisor Gary Mangnall explained: "We were more than pleased to support the rugby club with their developments as part of our programme to provide community service and real work experience opportunities for our students.
"The main difference between this work and the previous projects in Loughborough was the strict time limit as we only had a very small window of opportunity between the end of the rugby season and the start of the summer so that the club member could complete the remainder of the work pre-season."
LRFC House and Grounds Manager Trevor Goddard added: "We set ourselves a task of totally refurbishing the clubhouse this summer as part of the ongoing transformation of the Loughborough Rugby Football Club that not only its members and the town can be proud of but to ensure we continue to provide our members the service they require under our RFU Mini & Youth Seal of Approval and Sport England Clubmark status.
“The work and improved image has enabled the Loughborough Rugby Club to increase its activities and attract sponsorship never known before resulting in all of its Home First Team fixtures now being sponsored and, for the first time ever open the season with a sponsors pre-lunch meal.”
If any local community based organisations are undertaking any projects, big or small and would like to have a few extra helping hands you are advised to contact Gary Mangnall at Derby College on 07971326688.
