Bayer MaterialScience LLC Remains at the Forefront of UV-Cure Coatings Systems Development
Pittsburgh, PA, October 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Formulators are increasingly turning to ultraviolet (UV)-cure coatings to meet tighter government-mandated volatile organic compound (VOC) and hazardous air pollutant (HAPs) regulations. Bayer MaterialScience LLC has consistently been at the forefront of developing UV-cure coatings systems, offering innovative UV-cure options such as 100 percent solids, dual-cure and polyurethane dispersions (PUDs).
Mike Dvorchak, strategic technology manager, UV Cure Oligomers and PUDs, Bayer MaterialScience LLC, discussed the current state of UV-cure coatings technology at the Southern Society of Coatings Technology (SSCT) 2010 Annual Meeting & Technical Conference held recently in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Dvorchak presented “UV-Cure Coatings Technology – New Markets, New Oligomers and New Water-Based Polyurethane Dispersions” as part of the technical program during the SSCT conference.
UV-cure coatings have experienced 7-8 percent growth in many coatings markets. As a reflection of this growth, Dvorchak covered a variety of applications in different markets, including direct-to-metal applications, UV-A cure automotive refinish, UV-A cure aircraft markings, UV-A cure composite repair, UV-cure PUDs and new developments for plastic coatings.
“Through constant testing and innovation, Bayer MaterialScience has been on the leading edge of the evolving UV-cure market, providing customers with quality products that meet the changing requirements that result from more stringent regulations,” said Dvorchak.
Bayer MaterialScience LLC is one of the leading producers of polymers and high-performance plastics in North America and is part of the global Bayer MaterialScience business with approximately 14,300 employees at 30 production sites around the world and 2009 sales of 7.5 billion euros.
