Corporate Magic Orchestrates Spectacular XLV Countdown to Kick Off NFL Season in Style

Multi-media production at Cowboys Stadium features several amazing performances and NFL highlights, capped off by Tim McGraw concert.

Arlington, TX, October 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- A half century of Dallas Cowboys history, including five Super Bowl championships, was celebrated. Hall of Fame inductee Emmitt Smith was honored. More than two dozen former NFL players sang “America the Beautiful.” A symphony orchestra performed original NFL Films music. Internationally acclaimed pianist Van Cliburn offered a rare public performance.

And those were just warm-up acts for the featured entertainment, country music superstar Tim McGraw.

Indeed, XLV Countdown Live from Cowboys Stadium was more than just the biggest concert held in North Texas in 2010. It was a rousing, multi-layered tour de force that gave new meaning to the phrase “everything’s bigger in Texas.”

Behind the scenes, directing the two-and-a-half hour thrill ride, were the messaging architects at Corporate Magic. The Dallas-based company is the official event producer of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, and the Countdown was the most complex of the eight lead-in events it had staged thus far. Corporate Magic (www.corporatemagicinc.com) also produced the first two shows in the kickoff concert series – featuring Faith Hill at Fort Worth’s Bass Hall and Sting at Dallas’ Winspear Opera House – as well as other media and public events organized by the Host Committee.

“This one was a doozy, and we were happy to play our part in making this an unforgettable evening,” said Stephen Dahlem, Corporate Magic’s senior creative director, who led the production team. “There were lots of groups that worked long hours to make sure this event was a success. We’re very grateful to have had the opportunity to showcase out talents and play an important role in this stunning production.”

The sellout crowd of 36,981 included roughly 4,000 members of the U.S. military, who were invited guests of several North Texas companies. Not only was this the biggest show to date for the North Texas host committee; it was the biggest production put on by any Super Bowl Host Committee, ever.

The evening began with a stirring interpretation of the “National Anthem” performed by Fort Worth native Van Cliburn, accompanied by the 102-piece University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra. Then, the NFL PLAYERS Choir – featuring 28 retired stars– belted out a gospel-infused rendition of “America the Beautiful.” It was the first stadium performance ever for both the orchestra and the choir.

Roger Staubach, Chairman of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, followed an extraordinary NFL Films tribute to the Dallas Cowboys’ 50th anniversary with an homage to the first of the club’s five NFL championships, Super Bowl VI. Tony Dorsett recalled Super Bowl XII; Charles Haley represented Super Bowl XXVII; Darren Woodson recounted Super Bowl XXVIII; and Super Bowl XXX MVP Larry Brown added the finishing touches.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones then proudly introduced 2010 Hall of Fame inductee Emmitt Smith, who proclaimed “The road to Super Bowl XLV starts tonight!”

Then, as if to say “you ain’t see nothing yet,” Tim McGraw and his band took the stage and rocked the house with his chart-topping country hits. A dazzling fireworks show punctuated the end of the concert, concluding the evening’s festivities.

“The Countdown event was a monumental undertaking from start to finish,” said Bill Lively, the Host Committee’s President and CEO. “Corporate Magic has been an important partner in all our events and they were vital in the execution of XLV Countdown. They assisted our staff in the coordination of the myriad groups that worked to make this event a success. They have been great partners and friends to our ogranization.”

The upper tier of the stadium was not available for sale, which provided a more intimate experience for the nearly 37,000 attendees, many of whom were seeing the $1.2 billion marvel for the first time. The stadium’s enormous, center-hung LED screen – the world’s largest – was lowered above the over-sized stage, ensuring that fans had an extraordinary view of the performers and the NFL Films highlights.

In addition to its own 12-person production team, Corporate Magic enlisted the expertise of a few trusted vendors, including Argyle, TX-based GoVision LP, one of the nation’s premier suppliers of turnkey mobile LED units and customized modular LED walls. GoVision (www.jumbo.tv) constructed an 18’ W x 60’ H display comprised of 90 Daktronics modular PST-12HD video panels, which served as the centerpiece to the stage, enabling those seated at floor level to enjoy the full video experience.
