Ciena Healthcare Breaks Ground on New Skilled Nursing Community in Canton
Multi-Million Dollar Investment “Regency at Canton” to Feature Short and Long-Term Care, Private Rooms and Create More Than 100 Jobs
Southfield, MI, October 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Ciena Healthcare, the largest privately owned manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Michigan, has broken ground on a new skilled nursing community in Canton. “Regency at Canton,” located at 45900 Geddes Road near Canton Center Road, will be a spacious, 113-bed facility offering short-term and long-term care with 41 private rooms and 36 semi-private rooms.
Built at a cost of more than $6 million, Regency at Canton is scheduled to open in mid-2011. The community will feature a living area designed to care for the needs of residents requiring a short-term rehabilitation stay and contain a separate living area designed to meet the needs of traditional, long-term care geriatric residents.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to provide high quality care in a state-of- the-art facility in Canton,” said Mohammad Qazi, President, Ciena Healthcare Management. “Regency at Canton will have a homelike environment for all residents and include the latest safety features plus an easy to navigate floor plan for both residents and staff.”
Services offered at Regency at Canton will include physical therapy and occupational therapy. The community is expected to create more than 100 full time and part time jobs.
“We look forward to Ciena’s Regency at Canton becoming a part of our community,” said Phil LaJoy, Township Supervisor, Canton Township. “Providing high quality care for both short- and long-term residents is a great asset to Canton, along with employment opportunities with a stable, Michigan-based company.”
The 59,000 sq. ft. facility also will feature a kitchen/dining area, library, recreational area, lounge and a salon.
Founded in 1998, Ciena Healthcare also manages skilled nursing facilities throughout Wayne County, including eleven communities in Detroit. Additionally, the company plans to break ground on a new community in West Bloomfield in the near future.
“Ciena’s vision is to change the way senior residences are operated and perceived,” added Qazi. “We are offering communities featuring private rooms, fresh food preparation and 24-hour dining options.”
With nearly 4,000 licensed beds, the thirty-five nursing communities managed by Ciena Healthcare comprise the largest privately owned operators of skilled nursing and rehabilitation communities in Michigan. Three Ciena managed communities are located in Connecticut. Founded in 1998, Ciena Healthcare communities offer a holistic approach to patient care, fully committed to residents’ needs and well being while also promoting their independence. Ciena’s vision is to change the way senior residences are operated and perceived by providing communities that feature private rooms, ambiance, attention to detail, fresh food preparations and 24-hour dining options, all delivered by high quality, compassionate and dedicated professional support staff.
