Bonita Springs Company Launches Ultra-Portable Solar Power Products That Provide Power Where You Need It

Bonita Springs, FL, October 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Bonita Springs-based startup Gulf City Solar is on a mission to make solar power more user-friendly and enable people to get power wherever they want or need it. Using ultra-thin and light solar panels, proprietary regulator settings and ultra-portable packaging, president William P. Heckenstaller develops products that are easy for people of all ages to carry, install and use, and that work more efficiently than their competitors.

The company’s first product was solar conversion kit for electric golf carts. Unlike solar kits that use heavy glass panels or require cart owners to replace their roofs, Gulf City Solar’s kit uses a thin film-like panel weighing about nine pounds. Owners can simply peel off the double-sided tape and stick the panel onto their carts. The regulator that controls energy production and flow distributes energy up to 30 percent more efficiently than those packaged with competing kits, and constantly recharges a cart’s battery, enabling more drive time and less reliance on electricity.

“Cart owners and golf clubs have found our kits to be a very good value,” says executive vice president of sales and marketing Hans Holzmann. “Buyers can recoup the cost of their investment in less than two years through lower electric bills, and then recharge for several more years for free.” Holzmann also points out that the regulators’ ability to constantly recharge batteries, even while carts are running, also makes them more efficient. There’s no downtime for recharging or fear of being stranded on a golf course with a drained battery. Gulf City Solar recently announced an exclusive agreement with Lakeland, Fla. – based Golf Ventures to be the exclusive distributor of the kits.

With its first product off and running, Heckenstaller turned his attention to developing a solar power generator. Using the same thin, film-like panels and proprietary technology, the generator packs enough power for essentials like lamps, computers, televisions, and fans, along with limited television, refrigerator and hot plate use into a carry-on suitcase-sized package. A day-long charge can also power medical equipment through the night.

“Our generator is a good product to have on hand for emergencies,” Heckenstaller says, noting that since it’s solar, homeowners also won’t need to stockpile gasoline. “It’s also a great thing for people who like the outdoors. They can take it along and have power when they are camping or boating.” Next on his list to develop are energy cost saver boxes, water purification systems, and aeration systems. The company also consults and provides custom solar solutions for individuals, businesses and government entities.
