e-Spirit Introduces New CMS Version for Efficient Online Communication
The new CMS release version FirstSpirit 4.2R4 is designed with the user in mind: Providing simplified editing processes through office integration and improved user-friendliness.
Dortmund, Germany, October 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- With FirstSpirit Version 4.2 Release 4 (or "4.2R4"), e-Spirit AG introduces a new version of its content management system. The new release offers innovative functional enhancements and usability optimizations to facilitate management of digital content for the full range of communication channels and simplify routine tasks for editors. The CMS version is initially available exclusively for pilot customers in the roll-out phase which has started in October.
Superior usability: direct editing of office documents in the CMS
One of the special features of 4.2R4 is the office integration: editors can directly view, edit, and save office documents to the media management area in FirstSpirit using FirstSpirit's integrated preview feature (JavaClient). This new standard function is a cross-platform feature that also supports OpenOffice integration in addition to Microsoft applications. Here you can use FirstSpirit to open and edit documents in a range of formats, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, as well as OpenOffice Writer, Calc, and Impress, using the application that is currently installed on the local computer, and publish them to a website or the intranet. Editors are thus spared the extra effort of editing documents simultaneously in another program and instead can work directly in the CMS – which saves time, simplifies quick website updates, and frees up resources for other tasks.
In the integrated preview, you can open multiple tabs simultaneously, thereby providing separate preview areas for individual office applications alongside the preview of publishing channels for optimal monitoring of system workflows. FirstSpirit's robust browser preview also allows you to play audio and video files in Windows Media Player in many formats, including MP3, WMV, AVI, and MPG. A plugin in the current browser is used for displaying PDF and Flash documents while an integrated text editor in FirstSpirit is used for viewing text-based files (e.g. TXT, HTML, XML, CSS). A java-based application is used to display graphics in the relevant language and with the appropriate resolutions.
Intuitive working environment for non-specialist editors
In addition to functional enhancements in the JavaClient, FirstSpirit 4.2R4 provides a newly optimized WebClient. The editing interface, which allows for quick and simple browser-based editing particularly for non-specialist editors, has been given a visual "facelift" along with numerous usability optimizations to make it more intuitive to work with.
Redesigned WebClient – a summary of highlights:
>>> Training-free editing: The RichText Editor for entering continuous text is now more closely based on Word to enable straightforward editing and even more intuitive text editing with no special training required.
>>> Improved visual efficiency and clarity: The WebEdit toolbar has been reworked to allow for simple viewing of the process flow status on a single page. The relevant workflow can be started by simply clicking on the bar. Further enhancements are provided through optimized drop-down menus, new Quick Edit bars at the page level, and optimized menu dialog boxes to facilitate quick changes.
>>> Personal filter for your own changes: The "My changes" function allows users to display all of the pages that they have created or made changes to in a project. This is supported by a global search feature which allows you to search across multiple pages in a project using the search terms of your choice.
The new functionalities of FirstSpirit 4.2R4 can be sampled in a Live Webinar on October 28. To register for the event, visit the e-Spirit website at: www.e-Spirit.com/events.
