The JA Student Stock Market Challenge, a fast-paced, interactive simulation of the stock market, will be held Friday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Arizona Biltmore Resort, located at 2400 E Missouri Ave. in Phoenix.
This high-energy simulation gives high school students first-hand experience with trading as they buy and sell stocks from a list of 26 fictitious companies. Student teams also practice math, communication, team-building, and critical thinking skills while working to build the biggest portfolio within the two-hour live simulation. Event proceeds will benefit Junior Achievement of Arizona, a nonprofit that helps prepare youth for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. - At this event, each team is given $500,000 of mock stock in 26 fictitious companies. Every 80 seconds is a new trading day, and each company is given 60 days to trade stock.
