10-10-10, Highlighting the Ten Commandments Day
Church of God members lead effort to promote the Ten Commandments with a special virtual celebration on 10-10-10.
Cincinnati, OH, October 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Oct. 10, 2010, also known as 10-10-10, is being celebrated by hundreds of people around the world as Highlighting the Ten Commandments Day.
Dates such as 8-8-08, 9-9-09 and 10-10-10 always attract attention and become popular dates for weddings and other events. Highlighting the Ten Commandments seemed a natural fit to Mike Bennett, United Church of God editorial content manager, who launched the effort on his “Forward to the Kingdom!” blog and as a Facebook “event.”
“Attendees” of the virtual event are spreading the word in a variety of ways, especially through “word of mouse” on the Internet. They have posted Ten Commandments photos, videos, stories and other resources to the Facebook event site. Some are posting the commandments as their Facebook status and on Twitter.
One element of the event will involve the “Forward to the Kingdom!” blog. Mike Bennett plans to post 10 blog items in 10 hours, starting at 10:10 a.m. Eastern time. Each will fit into the Ten Commandments category, adding to the 28 items already posted on the subject.
Some of the items to be covered expand on this teaser list:
Did you know…
That some people think that the fact there are “Ten” Commandments isn’t “set in stone”?
That they think there could be 14, 15 or 17 commandments?
That the Jews, Catholics and many Protestants number the Ten Commandments differently?
That the second version of the Ten Commandments has added material?
That the Ten Commandments were memorized by American school children as part of the widely used McGuffey Reader?
That the commandments are mentioned more than 20 times in the New Testament?
That Jesus Christ said, “If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17)?
That the Ten Commandments will be written on our hearts and be part of the reason life will actually work during the prophesied Millennium?
That they will be the law of the Kingdom of God?
That one of the United Church of God’s most popular booklets is on The Ten Commandments, and it was recently revised and reprinted with color throughout?
