Thieme Wins First Prize in Surgical Specialties at the BMA Medical Book Awards
New York, NY, October 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Thieme, a world leader in scientific, medical, and academic publishing, picked up First Prize at the 2010 British Medical Association’s Medical Book Awards ceremony recently held in London. Through this competition the BMA aims to foster and reward excellence in medical publishing. Publishers from around the globe submitted 784 titles this year—100 more than last year.
First Prize in the Surgical Specialties category went to “Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedic Treatment” Written by Drs. Thomas Rakosi and Thomas M. Graber, this standard-setting atlas depicts and describes all aspects and methods of orthodontics and includes more than 1,200 drawings, radiographs, and full-color photographs.
In this same category, Drs. Franz Haerle, Maxime Champy, and Bill Terry were honored with Highly Commended for the Second Edition of “Atlas of Craniomaxillofacial Osteosynthesis.” This latest edition of the groundbreaking text covers key advances in craniomaxillofacial and oral surgery.
“Top Three Differentials in Radiology: A Case Review” by Dr. William T. O’Brien, Sr., was among the Highly Commended books in the Radiology category. This case-based review book—called “extremely useful” by Academic Radiology—provides select cases for sharpening diagnostic skills and preparing for board exams.
“It is exciting to receive recognition for our authors’ substantial contributions to their respective fields,” said editor Stephan Konnry. “Thieme is especially grateful to accept this distinction and this posthumous award for Dr. Graber.”
