Alexandria, VA, October 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- What: Clients and volunteers still needed for Rebuilding Together Alexandria’s (RTA) Energize Alexandria, a volunteer event helping more than 30 Alexandria vulnerable homeowners weatherize and make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes. With support from Honeywell, Lowes, and Sears, Energize Alexandria is being held in conjunction with Make a Difference Day—the nation’s largest day of service.
Why: A local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, RTA works to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize the Alexandria community. RTA—with the help of funders and dedicated volunteers—provides free home repairs and modifications to ensure that low-income Alexandria homeowners live in warm, safe and dry homes. Rebuilding Together Alexandria has worked on more than 1,100 projects in Alexandria since its inception in 1986.
When: Saturday, October 23, 2010, starting at 8:30am.

Where: 30 homes throughout the City of Alexandria
How: More than 100 volunteers will be helping make homes ready for the winter in a variety of ways, such as conducting energy audits; installing tank less hot water systems, energy efficient HVAC, windows, weather stripping, low flow aerators, outlet sealants, door sweeps, energy efficient appliances, and insulation; and planting trees.
