Jack Grisham of T.S.O.L. Honored with HB Arts Council Award

Jack Grisham to receive the Distinguished Performing Artist Award from the city of Huntington Beach Arts Council October 14. Grisham is best known as lead performer for T.S.O.L,The Joykiller, Tender Fury and Jack Grisham and the West Coast Dukes.

Huntington Beach, CA, October 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Jack Grisham has been selected to receive the Distinguished Performing Artist award from the Allied Arts Board of the City of Huntington Beach. The Allied Arts Board hosts a biennial awards program to honor those artists, arts educators, arts organizations and supporters who have made strides in the field of the arts and contributed to the advancement of the arts in Huntington Beach.

A celebration and presentation is planned for Thursday, October 14 at the Huntington Beach Art Center, 538 Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. A reception will be held from 6:30 – 7:00 pm with the awards program to follow.

Jack Grisham (born 1961) is an American rock musician, raconteur and political activist. He is the vocalist for the punk band T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty), which emerged from the 1980s Los Angeles punk rock scene, along with Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Social Distortion. Grisham has also fronted the bands The Joykiller, Tender Fury and Cathedral of Tears. He currently records with T.S.O.L. and Jack Grisham and the West Coast Dukes.

Grisham appeared as himself in the movies “American Hardcore” and the Geza X film “ Rage: 20 Years of Punk Rock West Coast Style (2001) (he also wrote the title track "Spit Up the Rage"). In the 1984 Penelope Spheeris film “Suburbia”, he appeared with T.S.O.L. performing "Wash Away" and "Darker My Love."

Grisham was a candidate and ranked in the top 30% of the 137 candidates.

On May 1, 2011, ECW press is releasing Jack Grisham’s first book, “An American Demon,” a memoir based on his early years.
