Urd comprises two oil deposits- 6608/10-6 Stær and 6608/10-8 Svale, which are satellites of the Norne field. Stær is located 5km north of the Norne field and Svale is located 10km to the north of Norne.
The water depth in the area is approximately 380m.

StatoilHydro ASA is the operator of the field. The other equity partners of the field are Eni Norge AS and Petoro AS.

The field has total recoverable reserves of about 54.72 million barrels of oil. The oil is produced through water injection and gas lift. The production in 2009 was 2.29 million barrels of oil.
