Aimer Media Revisits The Devil's Dictionary: What Would Ambrose Bierce Say About the iPad?

"Dictionary, n. A malevolent literary device for cramping the growth of a language and making it hard and inelastic. This dictionary, however, is a most useful work." (from The Devil's Dictionary, Ambrose Bierce)

Brighton, United Kingdom, October 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- 100 hundred years after the first printed book edition, Aimer Media introduces a searchable and hyperlinked app version of Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary for Apple's iPad and iPhone devices. Following on from Aimer Media's success with their day by day app of Samuel Pepy's Diary, The Devil's Dictionary by Ambriose Bierce: An Aimer Edition too takes advantage of new technology to add new dimensions to a classic literary work.

The Devil's Dictionary is a landmark in American satire. Ambrose Bierce's most famous creation emerged from a collection of newspaper items which eventually became what we know as as The Devil's Dictionary in 1911. Now one hundred years later, and through various print and electronic incarnations, it has become the classic satirical dictionary.

This Aimer edition brings brings a digital dimension to this infamous text to allow the reader to:

- move between the linked cross-references to take the reader from that linked word to the full entry

- search either via the entry headings or the full text to help the reader find the exact definition they had in mind

- shake the device to get a random entry (though if a reader thinks shaking the iPad looks silly there is also added a button that does the same thing)

But most of all the reader can just swipe, search or link to an entry that makes then laugh out loud and enjoy the wicked delight of this enduring work of literary fun.
