Pets for Patriots Gets a Chance to Refresh Everything in Bid for Pepsi Grant
Charity competes for $50k to help veterans adopt shelter pets
Long Beach, NY, October 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- One click a day in October can help place at-risk shelter pets into loving homes with United States veterans. As a contestant in the Pepsi Refresh Everything grant competition, Pets for Patriots is asking patriotic Americans to show their support with a daily click of the mouse or text message. The not-for-profit organization is competing for a $50,000 grant, which it needs to help make pet adoption achievable and affordable for veterans, wounded soldiers and service members.
“Winning this grant will enable us to help veterans adopt and care for adult and other at-risk shelter dogs and cats,” says Beth Zimmerman, founder and executive director of Pets for Patriots. “We know that there are millions of people who want to help our veterans, and an equal number who care about saving homeless pets. Winning this grant is critically important to our cause, especially in this difficult economy when many people who want to give simply cannot.”
Votes are needed daily throughout the month of October. Supporter can vote in three ways:

Pets for Patriots connects loyal adult shelter pets with our country's loyal service men and women, at any stage or station in their lives and from all armed forces. If successful in winning this grant, the organization will use the funds to defray the costs of pet food and basics for 150 veterans, support its outreach program to shelters, military and veterans’ organizations, travel to military bases and events in support of its mission, and update its website.
