Off The Quad Hires New Managing Editor

New digital media company taps seasoned managing editor to spearhead digital content strategy for email-based publication, targeting college students nationwide.

Greenwood Village, CO, October 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Off The Quad (http://www.offthequad.com) has announced the hire of Michelle Doucette as managing editor to oversee editorial content for its emerging email-based publication, targeting college students nationally. Michelle brings an impressive background in journalism, editing and online community management to Off The Quad (OTQ), including past work with Travelocity and CNN International. Her entrance to the company is part of OTQ’s national expansion strategy, since launching in early September.

“I'm thrilled to join the Off The Quad team in developing unique and engaging content for college markets,” Michelle continues. “I find the brand and its editorial vision incredibly compelling and am looking forward to seeing our content expand to drive its national growth.”

Michelle now manages editorial for Off The Quad’s national and local editions, including University of Colorado, University of Wisconsin, Indiana University, University of Florida, and Penn State. She oversees the company’s 10 local writers who seek out what’s happening in their area, to keep college students in-the-know.

Michelle came to Off The Quad from Travelocity where she was the online editor and community manager for IgoUgo.com for the last three years. She created and managed IgoUgo’s brand voice and editorial standards, writing over 200 destination features and more than 450 IgoUgo blog posts. In addition, Michelle grew IgoUgo’s online community to over 550,000 active members. Prior to Travelocity, Michelle honed her skill set at CNN International where she wrote news stories, produced packages, and coordinated live shots, as well as managing video and audio feeds during CNN’s Peabody Award-winning coverage of Hurricane Katrina.

“Michelle will be instrumental in the development of Off The Quad as we continue to push the envelope with our multi-platform approach to digital media,” David Rich, CEO of Off The Quad, states. “Her demonstrated ability to manage digital content and engage online communities at Travelocity, backed by her journalism experience at CNN makes her the perfect candidate for OTQ. We’re thrilled to welcome Michelle aboard.”
