United Facilities, Inc., A Third Party Logistics Company, Receives a Top Award from Fortune 100 Food Corporation for Continuous Improvement
Continuous Improvement is utilized by a top logistics company to save customer over $2 Million. United Facilities utilizes key aspects of continuous improvement to streamline their warehouse and distribution services to become more efficient and cost effective.
East Peoria, IL, October 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- A Fortune 100 food company, recently honored United Facilities, Inc. a local family-owned company that specializes in providing logistics services and operating regional distribution centers, as “Continuous Improvement Champion of the Year.” The award was presented at an awards ceremony and dinner in Minneapolis, MN, for their ability to save the client more than $2 million dollars in bottom line costs in the course of one year.
“Obviously, we are thrilled that our customer was able to measure and recognize our commitment to helping them. The relationships we have with our customers can only be strengthened as we continue to utilize the highly powerful tools of CI,” stated Vice President of Operations, Larry Yocum.
UF used the principles of CI, or Continuous Improvement, (identify, analyze, measure, improve and evaluate) to rapidly increase their customers’ profits, as well as achieving their own companies’ goals and objectives. The implementation of CI in all of its facilities is an attempt to change the culture and thinking processes, even in the minds of the hourly employees. The attitude in all employees from the bottom to the top has changed dramatically and has had a monumental impact on the success of the overall concepts.
Mr. Yocum also commented, “The most exciting thing we see, is the change that has occurred across the board with the employees. The thinking has evolved and now it is second nature to identify and go through the processes to create more streamlined, cost-efficient operations.”
UF has owned and operated ten distribution centers in Fontana, Stockton and Tracy, California; Peoria, Galesburg and Montgomery, Illinois; Orlando, Florida; and, Henderson, Colorado for many years, representing over 5 million square feet of warehouse space. They have put into operation most of the changes that garnered them the award in each facility, which services multiple customers, in the hopes that all of their customers can experience that same level of financial benefit.
The expectations and needs of customers and consumers has changed drastically in the past few years and United Facilities has excelled at studying and implementing positive changes to stay ahead of those needs. Continued use of the principles of CI will put United Facilities in line for many more such awards in the future.
