R. Harper Mason, author of The Red Scarf, worked on the famous King Ranch in South Texas, followed by a geological work project deep in the Libyan Sahara Desert. Mason has taken his experiences in Muslim North Africa, combined them with his son’s Special Forces adventures during a recent Afghanistan assignment, and blended them into an international thriller. Mason is a former president of the Arkansas Wildlife Federation, a talk show host, and a newspaper columnist. He lives with his wife in El Dorado, Arkansas.
