The competition will feature two rounds, with winners from the first round receiving gift cards of $100 and with the second round winner taking home the $1,000 merit-based scholarship for college.
The scholarship competition will center around essays written to answer one question: “In 1,000 words or less, what book, song lyrics, film, or quote best describes you or most inspires you, and why?”
Entries will be evaluated by five judges, including Jorge Vargas, AllMediaNY.com’s Editor-in-Chief, on parameters of style, content, and grammar. Judging of the entries will also feature a component composed of votes by readers.
