Open Range Pictures Signs Distribution Deal with Vanguard Cinema for Award Winning Feature Film "Becoming Eduardo"

Award Winning Film, "Becoming Eduardo" will be distribution by Vanguard Cinema, a company who represents independent films in the United States and abroad.

Studio City, CA, October 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Open Range Pictures recently signed a distribution deal with Vanguard Cinema for their independent film “Becoming Eduardo”. Vanguard Cinema, a company with a sterling reputation for representing independent filmmakers globally has maintained consistently high standards for representing the best works of independent filmmakers from the US and around the world. The company, founded in 1993, has continued to maintain excellence as a premiere distribution outlet for independent films.

Director Rod McCall and Producer Brad Littlefield are extremely excited about this collaboration. “Becoming Eduardo,” has received numerous awards since its inception in film festivals around the country. Featuring a cast and crew of seasoned film veterans and up and coming actors, the film received the prestigious Milagro Award at the Santa Fe Film Festival and went on to receive several others including, The Tamalewood Award for Best Latin Film; The Audience Choice Award and Best New Mexico Film award at the White Sands Film Festival, and most recently, Best New Mexico Film at the 2010 Albequerquie Film Festival. Added Littlefield, “I am so deeply honored that our film has gone on to receive the respect, admiration and recognition of the greater film community.”

Prior to producing “Becoming Eduardo,” Brad Littlefield worked with successful high technology start-ups and in film production and television. Brad gained a considerable amount of experience in entertainment while casting talent for MTV Networks and in project management for YouTube.

Much of the success of the film is due to the incredible cast starring Julian Alcaraz, Elizabeth Pena, A Martinez and Julian Alcaraz alongside Elizabeth Blanco, Mike Dunay, Josh Cruze and Gary Perez. These combined elements brought this heartwarming story to life infusing their rich American/Hispanic heritage.

Set in rural New Mexico, the film depicts the life of a young teen, Eddie Corazon, who struggles with peer pressures of juvenile delinquency, while discovering his love for poetry and his ability to bring his own words to life. Eddie (played by Alcaraz) attends an alternative high school in ficticious Rosablanca, New Mexico, where his class reflects the cultural and economic diversity found in the rich tapestry of New Mexico. Through the film, the viewer sees the long horizon ahead through Eddie’s eyes, who walks the thin line between tragedy and glory as he negotiates his view of the world and how he sees himself, and how he wants to be seen by the girl of his dreams, Lupe.

“Becoming Eduardo” was a labor of love for Director Rod McCall who has described the film as his love letter to New Mexico. McCall came to independent filmmaking by way of writing, animation, Madison Avenue and architecture. His second feature film, Lewis & Clark & George, a pitch black “trash noir” comedy starring Rose McGowan, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and played on Cinemax and HBO. Paper Hearts, his first feature debut starring Sally Kirkland, James Brolin and Kris Kristofferson premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Before McCall got into movies he directed TV commercials for a long list of international clients and received many awards, including the coveted CLIO. McCall is currently on the faculty of The Creative Media Institute at New Mexico State University.

Now thanks to the relationship with Vanguard Cinema, it will reach as many viewers as possible.
