Scholarship Deadlines Will be on November 1st for the VFW Voice of Democracy and October 31st for Coca Cola - Social Work Programs Info Website Tracks Scholarship Updates

School scholarships have various deadlines but two that are November 1st include Voice of Democracy and Harlequin Dance Scholarship

Boca Raton, FL, October 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Knowing the deadlines for the scholarships you are applying for is important; because once that date has passed the application won’t be considered.

Two scholarship deadlines that occur on November 1st are the Voice of America Scholarship and the American Harlequin Dance Award. The last winner of the Voice of America Scholarship from the VFW received thirty thousand dollars that she'll be using towards college. The Harlequin Dance award will be giving out twenty five thousand dollars to the winners. The Coca Cola Scholarship deadline is the day before, October 31st.

Certain colleges tend to look favorably on those who are motivated enough to send it in at the very beginning of the time period set for accepting applications. Check with the financial aid counselor at the school you are interested in as there may be specific deadlines that the school requires which are different than the state or scholarship foundation's deadline.

According to social worker Dee Cohen, LCSW, “Many senior high school clients I see admit being paralyzed by the application process for colleges and feel overwhelmed by the process of writing the admission essays, filling out scholarship forms as well as figuring out how to narrow down the colleges to visit and consider.” She noted that counseling for high school seniors is sought for issues related to anxiety around this transitional period of life.

The FAFSA application is important to get in on time and this is often utilized by a variety of other scholarship and grant funding sources. States vary on the deadline so you need to check this carefully.

One deadline that is approaching is the Coca Cola Scholarship award. If the grade point average is 3.0 or higher that means that eligibility is met and seniors can submit an application. The deadline is October 31st and approximately two hundred and fifty scholarships are awarded.

The Gates Millennium Scholarship is another one that you will want to consider applying for because of its ability to help one take care of a good portion of the college education. It is open to minority students who wish to earn a degree from an accredited college or university and the due date for all applications is January 10th, 2011. There are a few requirements that need to meet to get it though, such as being a legal citizen and having a GPA of at least 3.3.

Another scholarship to consider is the Dell Scholars Program which can award students around 20,000 dollars towards college courses and requirements. If you are a high school senior the application deadline for this is January 15th. Cohen discusses other scholarship funds including Scholarships for Single Mothers at her blog at http://www.SocialWorkPrograms.org.

Local corporations and charities also provide funding and are important sources to explore in finding ways to help with tuition and books. There are also special Scholarships for Minority Women. In addition, some websites online will have sweepstakes that draw a ten thousand dollar scholarship winner monthly.
