Music & Mischief Media’s CEO Serves as Panelist at 2010 UMMA Convention
Kansas City, MO, October 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- October 14th - 16th, 2010 at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Center in Kansas City, MO, the United Minority Media Association held its annual Midwest/Southeast Regional Conference.
This event covered a multitude of topics with distinguished guests from around the country sharing their expertise and experiences on issues of importance to minority media and small business owners. A small sampling of the topics discussed included a Broadband Summit with Senior Attorney Mr. Calvin L. Osborne from the Office of Communications Business Opportunities for the FCC. Where new technologies for implementing and distributing High-Speed internet to under serviced and neglected markets were discussed as well and methods and strategies that should be employed by business owners to properly leverage these opportunities to their fiscal advantage. Additionally there was an in-depth discussion of social media and its relevance and usefulness to the minority media and small businesses community as presented by Mr. Bobbye G. Benson II aka Big Mav, Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona based Music & Mischief Media Group (www.musicandmischief.com ) and (www.wflav.com)
The final day of the UMMA conference was rounded out with The Historic "Trail of Tears" Sequel with a Genealogy Seminar and 2 hour live broadcast on KKFI 90.1 FM with panelist speaking on issues of minority health and Native American lineage requirements for tribal admissions.
The United Minority Media Association (UMMA) www.KKFI.org is a nonprofit, volunteer organization of minority entrepreneurs, professionals and students in the communications and media industry. UMMA's members share a commitment to career development, education and community service.
The United Minority Media Association Incorporated (UMMA) was founded by M.C. Richardson, May 11, 1974 and incorporated in the State of Missouri on August 28,1974. Former KMBC-TV Reporter, Tim Richardson, provided key ideas to form the organization. With this leadership and UMMA's twenty-one charter members the organization swiftly created a network system for minority, media professionals and students.
In 1982, UMMA became an affiliate of the National Black Media Coalition. The two organizations worked together to advocate change in the practices of the mainstream media.
