Education Online Services Corporation participates in panel discussion on the future of online education at annual White House Initiative conference on HBCU’s
New York, NY, October 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Last month, representatives of HBCUs, private industry and government agencies convened in Washington, DC at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, for the 2010 Annual White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities weeklong conference to exchange ideas and explore potential partnerships in an effort to strengthen the competitiveness of all HBCUs in today’s post-secondary education environment.
The conference featured plenary sessions, including keynote addresses from select members of President Obama’s administration such as The Honorable Arne Duncan, Secretary, U.S. Department of Education and The Honorable James E. Clyburn, Majority Whip for 111th Congress U.S. House of Representatives, as well as the Honorable Martha Kanter, Under Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
The conference’s panel discussions included “The Future of Online Education for HBCU’s,” where participation by Ezell Brown, Founder and Chairman of Education Online Services Corporation was requested by John Silvanus Wilson, Jr., Executive Director for the White House Initiative on Historically Black College and Universities.
Since Education Online Services Corporation is the leading educational services provider assisting colleges and universities in underserved communities with the development of full-service online degree programs, it was only natural that the company’s expertise and participation on the subject would be requested.
“HBCUs have been serving our nation for 173 years and they have rightly earned their place forever in our history books. Preserving the missions of these institutions as well as increasing their financial sustainability and long-term growth lies at the very heart of our mission statement at Education Online Services Corporation, and being asked to participate as a panelist in this White House conference was indeed an honor for us,” stated Ezell Brown.
Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr., President of Education Online Services Corporation also participated in the panel discussion that focused on the future development of HBCUs in distance education. Dr. Chavis concluded, “The White House Initiative on HBCU’s reaffirmed the strategic importance in the field of higher education across America. Online education offers HBCU’s significant opportunities to advance and expand their academic excellence throughout the world.”
